Angelo Villari
won the first prize at the International Contest “Simone Alaimo, il Bel Canto”
(2010) and he was finalist at the Lyric Contest Puccini Festival in Torre
del Lago and he won the role of Il Duca of Mantua in Rigoletto in the
Contest “Il Bel canto nella Valle dei Templi” in Agrigento (Sicily). Amongst the
roles he sang, it is worth mentioning: Canio in Pagliacci, Turiddu in Cavalleria
Rusticana, Cavaradossi in Tosca and Alfredo in Traviata. Angelo
Villari recently sang: Cavalleria Rusticana in Lecce, Pagliacci in
Malta, Attila (Foresto) in Rovereto.
Among his most important successes in the past season, it is worth mentioning: Il
Trovatore at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, Madama Butterfly in
Lübeck and in Bari, La Traviata in Malta, the main role in Ennio
Porrino’s I Shardana at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, conducted by
Anthony Bramall in a new production by Davide Livermore (also filmed in DVD by
Dynamic). Mr. Villari starred the main tenor role in Casella’s La donna
serpente under Fabio Luisi for the opening of the Martina Franca Festival.
Mr. Villari recently performed Adriana Lecouvreur in Como, Pavia and
Cremona.
Plans include Guglielmo Ratcliff at the
Wexford Festival Opera.
